New Residential Garbage Contract
The bid for residential garbage collection services for citizens in unincorporated Jefferson County was scheduled to expire in April of 2025. In August, Jefferson County bid out its residential garbage contract. Citizens can find the request for bids here: 37-24-002. Bids were due on September 27. The County advertised the bid and the pre-bid meeting was attended by multiple collection companies. Only 1 vendor responded to the bid – Amwaste. You can view the bid here: Amwaste bid.
On November 21, the Jefferson County Commission approved a new contract with Amwaste based on that bid for residential garbage collection that goes into effect on April 1, 2025. The following changes were made in this new contract to help ensure better service for citizens at a reduced cost.
- The cost for residential garbage collection will go down approximately $3, a month.
- Increased penalties to Amwaste for missed pickups:
- $250 for each complaint or request not satisfied within 24 hours of receiving notification of the complaint. If there are more than 2 complaints at the same residence within the same month, the County will double the penalty to $500. Penalties will be enforced at least once each quarter.
- Citizens can report missed pickups using the MyJeffCo App:
